What the stove control board and display repair
involves.

Stove control board repair is for the electronics that run a modern stove: the display and touch keys, the board that switches the oven and the burners, and on induction stoves the power boards under the glass. A display that stays blank, flashes the time after every outage, beeps on its own or shows the same code again and again usually has a reason, and the board is not always it. A tripped half of the breaker, a loose wire at the outlet, a keypad that has worn through, or a sensor that makes the board react can all look like a dead board. The technician checks the power first, reads the code, tests the keypad and sensors, and replaces the board only when the board is what failed.

How the visit goes

Control board and display repair,
step by step.

Leave a stove whose display, keys and codes behave normally, including after a power cut test.

01

Note any code, what the display shows and which keys do not answer.

02

Check the power reaching the stove: both halves of the breaker, the outlet, the cord and the connections at the back.

03

Test the keypad, the sensors and the wiring that feed the board before blaming the board itself.

04

Replace the keypad, the display board or the control board that failed, and set it up for your model.

05

Leave a stove whose display, keys and codes behave normally, including after a power cut test.

  2. Whether it started after a storm, an outage or a spill
  3. Which keys do not respond, or whether the stove will not turn on at all
  4. The model number, since boards are made for a specific model

A reseated connector or a cleared lock costs little. A keypad or a display board lands in the middle, and an induction power board pushes the job toward the top of the scale.

All service areas

Tampa BayFL · 31 areas

Tampa Bay's summer lightning reaches stove control boards through the house wiring, and a stove whose panel stayed dark once the storm passed gets its board tested, with a whole-house surge device worth raising with an electrician afterward.

OrlandoFL · 30 areas

Orlando rental stoves collect settings changed by guests, from a locked panel to a showroom demo mode, so a display that seems dead is sometimes only a mode, and the technician checks for that first.

Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas

After a South Florida outage a tower stove may return with an error on its display or a blank panel, and the repair separates a control board that failed in the surge from one that only needs resetting.

New York MetroNY · 75 areas

Newer stoves in Manhattan and Queens apartments carry touch displays, and when one blanks out, the board is ordered by model and fitted inside the building's permitted work hours.

HoustonTX · 36 areas

Houston storm outages can last long enough to empty a freezer, and a stove that comes back with a flashing display or an unresponsive panel is repaired once the technician confirms the house power has steadied.

ChicagoIL · 50 areas

In Chicagoland houses where an older panel feeds a newer stove, a display that dims or resets as the oven starts can point to the supply rather than the board, and the visit checks both before ordering a part.

Los AngelesCA · 95 areas

Los Angeles households on time-of-use rates often run delayed bakes and timers, and a stove control that loses its clock or will not hold a delayed start is checked for a failing board or a loose connection behind the panel.

San DiegoCA · 31 areas

Damp coastal air in San Diego reaches the ribbon connectors behind a stove's display, and a touch panel that ignores presses near the beach is often a connector to clean or replace, not a whole board.

San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas

Bay Area power shutoffs in fire weather cut electricity for a day or more, and a stove that comes back from one with a blank display or a stuck error gets its board and power supply tested before it is written off.

Questions about
the stove control board and display repair.

The display on my stove went blank after a storm. Did the surge kill it?
A surge does not always mean a new board. Check the breaker first; a double breaker can trip on one side and leave the display dark. Then switch the stove off at the breaker for a minute and back on. If it stays blank, a surge may have damaged the board or its power supply, and a visit can tell which.
My stove was in a flooded kitchen. Can it be used once it dries?
Do not switch it back on until it has been checked. Water inside the boards, wiring and gas controls can cause shocks, sparks or a leak later, even when the stove looks dry. Keep it off at the breaker and the gas valve closed, and have it inspected before use.
The clock on my stove flashes after every short power cut. Is my stove failing?
No, a flashing time after an outage is just the stove asking to be set again. If it flashes without any outage, or the display flickers and resets on its own, a loose connection or a failing board may be the cause.
The touch keys stopped working, but the burners still heat. Why?
Grease, moisture or a control lock can make the keys ignore you. Wipe the panel dry and look for a lock symbol; holding the lock key for a few seconds often releases it. If only some keys fail, the keypad may be worn and can be replaced on its own.
