JennAir stoves,
specifically.

JennAir sells 30-inch slide-in stoves in electric radiant, induction, gas and dual-fuel versions, plus professional-style stoves in RISE and NOIR designs. The slide-ins show codes such as F3 E0 on a display, while the professional-style models flash theirs on the knob lights.

The JennAir lineup

What is particular
to JennAir.

JennAir's 30-inch slide-in stoves and its professional-style stoves read their codes differently, one on a display and one through knob lights. The model label tells us which list applies before we look at any part.

Codes in blinking knob lights

JennAir's professional-style stoves have no text display for errors. Amber lights with a tone mean a code is stored, and the Wi-Fi and Remote lights with the knob flashes spell out the F and E numbers.

A blank clock is often a setting

Some JennAir stoves have an Energy Save mode that shows ES and then blanks the display after five idle minutes. Holding CLOCK for 10 seconds turns it off, so a dark display is not always a dead control.

The stovetop protects itself

On JennAir electric and induction stoves, C81, C82 and C83 mean the cooking surface overheated and shut off. Turning off the oven and waiting five minutes is JennAir's first step.

A one-minute reset first

For most F codes JennAir asks owners to switch the breaker off for a full minute and watch for the code for a minute after. We ask owners to try that before a visit, and to tell us if the code came back.

Parts

Oven controls, door latch assemblies and cooling fans are matched to the model. Some are ordered after the first visit once the code and the model are confirmed.

Repair or replace

A slide-in JennAir set into custom cabinets and counters is worth repairing for most latch, sensor, fan and board problems. Replacement becomes a fair question when an older model needs a main control that is no longer made.

Questions about
JennAir stoves.

Why is my JennAir stove blinking amber lights?
On a professional-style JennAir, blinking amber lights with a tone mean an error is stored. Move both knobs off their settings, then return Mode to Bake and Temp to Off; amber lights that return mean a visit is needed.
My JennAir stove display goes blank by itself. Is it broken?
It may be Energy Save mode, which blanks the display after five idle minutes. A key press or opening the door brings it back, and holding CLOCK for 10 seconds switches that mode off.
How do I read the code on a JennAir stove with no text display?
The Wi-Fi light marks the F number and the Remote light marks the E number, with the knob lights flashing out each number. If the stove is connected, the JennAir app shows the reason too.
What should I do first when an F code shows on my JennAir stove?
Switch the breaker off for one minute, turn it back on and watch for a minute. A code that survives the reset is worth writing down before you book a visit.
