What DUMBO does

In the 1890s the western part of the neighborhood was called Fulton Landing, after the ferry that linked it to Manhattan before the Brooklyn Bridge opened.

The cardboard box was invented in the Robert Gair building on Washington Street, and the area was long known as Gairsville.
