What Hinsdale does

Horace W. S. Cleveland platted the 1871 addition in a curvilinear plan that worked around large trees and hills instead of the usual grid.

William Robbins bought 700 acres, the first land in Hinsdale, and platted the town in 1866, almost all of it south of the railroad.

Hinsdale issued bonds to bring running water, electricity and a sewage system to the town and paved its streets with asphalt and brick.
