What the stove gas and power hookup check
involves.
A stove gas hookup check looks at the few feet behind the stove that most people never see: the shutoff valve, the flexible connector and its fittings on a gas stove, and the cord, the plug and the outlet on an electric one. It is worth doing when a stove is moved for cleaning or a floor project, when a new or used stove goes in, when you move into a rental or a new home, and when a stove has sat unused or been through a flood. Old uncoated brass connectors, kinked lines, loose cord terminals and missing anti-tip brackets are found here before they cause a leak, a scorched outlet or a stove tipping forward. Everything the technician touches on a gas line is leak-tested before the stove goes back.
