Café stoves,
specifically.

Café is GE Appliances' design-led line, with slide-in induction and radiant stoves and professional gas and dual-fuel stoves up to 48 inches. The professional models run the oven from two knobs instead of a keypad, and the induction models lean on smart probes and connected pans.

The Café lineup

What is particular
to Café.

Café sells slide-in induction and radiant electric stoves and professional all-gas and dual-fuel stoves. The professional knob-driven models and the touch-control slide-ins are set up very differently, so we ask which one you have.

Two knobs have to agree

On Café's professional stoves, the oven mode knob and the temperature knob must be set together in a valid pairing. An oven that does nothing is sometimes just a pairing the control does not accept.

A magnet test for induction pans

Café's induction manual tells you to check pans with a magnet. A pan the magnet will not grip will not heat, and the setting will not behave normally.

A probe that needs charging

Café's precision probe has to be charged before cooking and should not stay on its charger in the oven. Jumpy probe readings are usually the charger, not the stove.

Smart pans that pair by tapping

Some Café induction stoves work with pans that activate with a firm double tap. A pan that will not pair was often tapped too lightly.

Parts

Café finish parts such as knobs and handles are specific to the color you chose. Internal parts are often shared with other GE-built stoves, which helps with availability.

Repair or replace

Café stoves are usually worth repairing because the cabinet, finish and burners outlast most electronic parts. Only a major induction failure on an older model is worth a second thought.

Questions about
Café stoves.

Why won't my Café professional oven heat when I turn the knob?
Both the mode knob and the temperature knob must be set to a valid pairing. Check the pairing table in the manual before booking.
How do I know if my pans work on a Café induction stove?
Café's manual says to use a magnet: if it sticks to the bottom, the pan is induction-compatible.
Why does my Café probe reading jump around?
Café links unstable readings to the charger being plugged in while cooking. Charge the probe first, then cook without the charger.
What should I do if an F code keeps coming back on my Café?
Café's manual says to let the oven cool for an hour, then disconnect power for 30 seconds. If it repeats, book a visit.
