The model number picks the code list
A Kenmore 4.8 cubic-foot stove uses E0 to E18, a 405 gas stove uses Er- codes, and a 405 electric stove uses E02 and E03. The same letters can mean different things, so we read the model number first.
A showroom mode on the 4.8 models
Kenmore's 4.8 cubic-foot stoves have a demo mode where most functions do not work. Holding the 1 and 9 pads for three seconds toggles it, and OFF SHOP confirms it is off.
Compact stoves for small kitchens
Kenmore sells 24-inch compact front-control electric stoves with a storage compartment, a size many apartments and rentals use.
Never water on a grease fire
Kenmore's gas stove guide warns in capital letters never to use water on a grease fire. Smother it with a lid and turn the heat off.
