Matches still work in an outage

Frigidaire's gas stove manual says the burners can be lit by hand when the electricity is out: hold a lit match to the burner head and turn the knob slowly. That makes a Frigidaire gas stove a fair backup during a storm.

Flame color tells the story

Frigidaire describes a good flame as clear, blue and hard to see in a bright room, and says to adjust or clean the burner if it burns yellow-orange. Owners often notice the color change long before a burner stops lighting.

How do I light my Frigidaire gas stove without power?
Frigidaire says to hold a lit match to the burner head and slowly turn the knob. Once it lights, set the flame you want, and take care near the flame.
Why is the flame on my Frigidaire yellow-orange?
Frigidaire says a good flame is clear and blue, and a yellow-orange one means the burner needs adjusting or cleaning. Check that the cap sits level, and book a visit if the color stays.
