Bosch stoves,
specifically.

Bosch sells slide-in stoves in gas, electric, dual fuel and induction versions, plus freestanding gas and dual fuel models. Its owner pages keep separate code lists for slide-in and freestanding stoves, and the same code can mean different things on each.

The Bosch lineup

What is particular
to Bosch.

This page draws on Bosch's slide-in and freestanding code pages and on the use and care manual for its dual fuel and gas slide-in stoves (HDI8056U, HGI8056UC and related models). The rating label tells which code list applies.

Only the burners in a blackout

Bosch's slide-in manual says that during a power failure only the stovetop burners can be lit by hand. The oven and the electronic features wait for power.

Judge the flame after five minutes

Bosch asks you to let the burners run 4 to 5 minutes before judging the flame, since some yellow streaking is normal at first. A flame that stays mostly yellow points at the regulator setting for your gas type.

Caps belong to their burner

Bosch says the burner caps must not be swapped between burners, and the igniters should be cleaned regularly with a small non-metallic brush. Mixed-up caps after cleaning are a common reason for an uneven flame.

Cord colors after a move

On freestanding models, Bosch's first check for the e101 sensor code is that the power cord's wire colors match the wires on the stove. A stove that shows e101 right after a move or install should have its connection checked before anything else.

Parts

Bosch's freestanding and slide-in stoves use different code sets and different controls, so the model number decides the part. Parts availability was not confirmed on a Bosch source.

Repair or replace

Mixed-up burner caps, a panel lock, demo mode and a hot pan near the controls need no part. For a sensor, lock or board on a slide-in fitted to the cabinetry, repair is usually easier than replacing it.

Questions about
Bosch stoves.

Can I use my Bosch gas stove when the power is out?
Bosch says only the stovetop burners can be lit by hand during a power failure. The oven stays off until power returns.
The flames on my new Bosch look yellow. Is that a problem?
Let the burners run 4 to 5 minutes first; Bosch says some yellow streaking is normal at startup. Flames that stay mostly yellow need the regulator checked for the right fuel.
How do I lock the controls on my Bosch?
On the slide-in models covered here, press and hold Panel Lock for 3 seconds, and do the same to unlock. The oven must be in standby.
Does it matter which cap goes on which burner on my Bosch?
Yes. Bosch says not to swap the caps between burners, since each is sized for its own burner.
