GE Profile stoves,
specifically.

GE Profile is the GE family's connected line: gas, electric and induction stoves, many with front controls, Wi-Fi and precision cooking with a Bluetooth probe. The extra features add a few checks of their own, from pan fit on the induction elements to whether remote control is switched on.

The GE Profile lineup

What is particular
to GE Profile.

Profile covers gas, electric and induction stoves, freestanding and slide-in, often with front controls. The induction and smart functions change what we test first.

Induction that heats only with the right pan

On a Profile induction stove, a setting that flashes instead of heating usually means the pan is the problem: the wrong material, too small, off center or not flat. We ask what pan you were using before we test the element.

A fan that cools the glass

Profile's induction models have an internal fan, and the manual links a burner that changes setting or shuts off on its own to high stovetop temperature. A pan that boiled dry is a common trigger, so the stove may be protecting itself.

Smart features have their own switch

If the app cannot start the oven, the Profile manual lists remote enable being off as one cause. It is a setting on the stove, not a broken Wi-Fi module.

Precision cooking with a probe or smart pan

Profile stoves can pair a Bluetooth probe or Hestan Cue cookware for precision cooking. When the stovetop behaves oddly during one of those sessions, we check the pairing before the hardware.

Parts

Front-control keypanels, induction boards and cooling fans are model-specific, so we confirm the full model number before ordering. Common parts like sensors and door latches are usually easy to get.

Repair or replace

Profile stoves carry more electronics than basic models, and a failed induction board is one of the larger repairs. Most other problems, like a keypanel, sensor or latch, are well worth fixing.

Questions about
GE Profile stoves.

Why does my Profile induction element keep flashing and not heat?
The Profile manual points first at the pan: wrong type, too small, off center or warped. Try a flat, magnetic pan that fits the element before booking.
My Profile stovetop turned itself down while I was cooking. Is it broken?
The manual links that to a hot stovetop and suggests letting the internal fan cool it and checking whether a pan boiled dry. If it keeps happening with normal cooking, book a visit.
Why can't I start my Profile oven from the app?
Remote enable may be off on the stove itself. The manual lists it among the reasons remote control does not work.
Why won't my Profile self-clean start?
The manual lists a hot oven, the wrong settings and the probe still plugged in as causes. Remove the probe and let the oven cool before trying again.
