Wolf stoves,
specifically.

Wolf stoves come with gas burners over a gas or electric oven, or with an induction top, and many have a griddle, infrared charbroiler or French top in the burner row. Owners usually call us about a burner that loses its low simmer, an oven that shows a code in the knob window, or a stove that acts up after the power went out.

The Wolf lineup

What is particular
to Wolf.

Wolf sells gas, dual-fuel and induction stoves, and its help pages keep separate code lists for the older dual-fuel models, the newer dual-fuel models and the IR induction models. The model and serial label tells us which list and which parts apply.

Two flames in each burner

Wolf builds its gas burners as dual-stacked sealed burners, with a strong upper flame and a gentle lower one. When a pot boils fine but will not hold a low simmer, the lower ring and its ports are where we look first.

Codes in the oven knob

On older Wolf dual-fuel stoves the oven knob has a small window that shows messages such as PF or ERR OC. ERR OC often clears once the metal contacts on the knob stem are cleaned and dried and the knob is pushed back on.

After a blackout

An older Wolf dual-fuel stove shows PF in the knob after a power failure. Turning the selector to a cooking mode and back to OFF clears it, so a PF after a storm is a reset rather than a repair.

Different lists by age

Wolf's older dual-fuel models show short codes like 01 or 0E, while the newer ones show four characters such as 3C20. Reading the model label before the code keeps us from chasing the wrong part.

Parts

Oven controls, knob assemblies and induction boards are matched to the model and series. Some of them are ordered after the first visit once the part number is confirmed.

Repair or replace

A Wolf stove is built to be repaired, and most of its problems come down to an igniter, a sensor, a lock or a single board. Replacement becomes a fair question on an older model that needs several of those at once.

Questions about
Wolf stoves.

My Wolf stove shows PF in the oven knob after a storm. Is it broken?
No. PF appears after a power failure, or when the oven is too hot for the mode you picked. Turn the selector to a cooking mode and back to OFF; if PF keeps coming back on steady power, book a visit.
Why won't my Wolf burner hold a low simmer?
Wolf burners have a lower simmer flame under the main one. Food or cleaner in its small ports, or a cap that sits crooked, makes the low flame weak or uneven. Clean and dry the burner parts; if it still will not simmer, book a visit.
What does ERR OC mean in my Wolf oven knob?
The knob lost contact with the oven control. With the breaker off, pull the knob, clean and dry the contacts on its stem, and push it firmly back on.
Do newer Wolf stoves use the same codes as older ones?
No. Older dual-fuel models show short codes such as 01 or 0E, while newer ones show four characters such as 3C20. The model label tells you which list applies.
