Dacor stoves,
specifically.

Dacor's pro stoves pair gas burners with a gas or dual-fuel oven, and some have a steam oven and a tilting touch screen above the knobs; Dacor also sells an induction stove. Because the screen runs so much of the stove, many service calls start with a C- code on the display.

The Dacor lineup

What is particular
to Dacor.

Dacor's pro stoves come as gas, dual-fuel and induction models, and the gas and dual-fuel manuals share one table of C- codes. The dual-fuel steam models add codes for the steam system.

A screen that tilts

Dacor fits many of its pro stoves with a 7-inch touch panel that tilts automatically. C-F2 means that panel has lost its link to the main board, so a frozen screen is not always a broken screen.

Steam in the oven

Dacor dual-fuel models with a steam oven have a water reservoir and a steam sensor of their own. C-70 points to that sensor, and regular baking can often go on while it waits for repair.

Foil sets off a code

Dacor's C-24 means an oven vent is blocked, and the manual names aluminum foil as the usual culprit. Taking the foil liner out is often all the repair needed.

Anti-tip bracket and matches

Dacor asks owners to check that the anti-tip device holds the stove when it is pulled forward, and tells them never to light a burner by hand during a power failure. Both matter in homes with children or after the stove has been moved.

Parts

Touch panels, main boards and steam parts are specific to the model. Some are ordered after the first visit once the model and code are confirmed.

Repair or replace

Most Dacor codes point to one part, such as a sensor, a lock, the cooling motor or a board link, and those are worth repairing. Replacement is a fair question only when an older model needs the touch panel and the main board together.

Questions about
Dacor stoves.

Can I light my Dacor burners with a match during a power outage?
No. Dacor's manual says never to light a burner by hand during a power failure. Wait for power to return before cooking on the stovetop.
Why does my Dacor stove show C-24?
An oven vent is blocked, most often by aluminum foil on the oven floor or racks. Open the door for a minute, reset the oven, and take the foil out.
My Dacor touch screen froze and shows C-F2. What now?
The screen has lost contact with the main board. Turn the knob to Off and restart; if that fails, cut power for at least 30 seconds, and book a visit if C-F2 stays.
How do I know the anti-tip bracket on my Dacor stove is working?
Dacor says to grasp the top rear edge and gently tilt the stove forward; the bracket should stop it within a few inches. If it does not, have the bracket refitted before children are near the stove.
