ILVE stoves,
specifically.

ILVE has built stoves near Padua, Italy, since 1969, and its Nostalgie line, with its classic styling, is what many owners picture when they hear the name. The US lineup also includes the Majestic, Panoramagic and Professional Plus, sold as dual-fuel stoves with gas burners over electric ovens or as induction models, in widths up to 60 inches.

The ILVE lineup

What is particular
to ILVE.

ILVE's US stoves run from 30 to 60 inches, and many of the wider ones have two ovens next to each other, in dual-fuel or induction form. The current Majestic III induction models are sold next to the Majestic II, Nostalgie II and Professional Plus II, while older Nostalgie I and Professional Plus I stoves, all-gas ones included, still appear in ILVE's service notes.

Five seconds on the knob, five minutes after a miss

An ILVE burner needs its knob held in for about five seconds once it lights, or the flame goes out when you let go. After a failed try, the manual asks for a five-minute wait before the next one.

Lighting a burner can freeze the Majestic screen

According to ILVE's service notes, the spark from the burner igniters can interfere with the Majestic's touchscreen until it stops responding. Opening and shutting the oven door resets the touch control, and if the freezes return, a ferrite is installed.

Sparking that will not stop

When an ILVE keeps sparking with no knob turned, the service notes point to the position of the ignition microswitch or to moisture on its contacts. After a spill or a wet cleaning, letting the stove dry out is the first step.

A cold Majestic oven has an inside reset

For a Majestic oven that will not heat, ILVE's notes list a tripped safety thermostat with its own reset button, a blocked cooling fan and a stuck door microswitch. All three sit behind panels, so they are handled on a visit.

Parts

ILVE's service notes name parts by SKU and call for current display-card software on the Majestic, so the model, generation and serial are confirmed before anything is ordered. ILVE's US site gives no lead times.

Repair or replace

Most ILVE breakdowns trace back to a single thermocouple, board or sensor, and ILVE's notes treat each as a separate part. Unless the oven cavity or the frame has been damaged, fixing that part is the usual answer.

Questions about
ILVE stoves.

Why does my ILVE keep sparking after the burner is already lit?
ILVE's service notes tie constant sparking to the ignition microswitch being out of position or to moisture on its contacts. If the stove was just cleaned or something boiled over, let it dry completely; if the clicking carries on, book a visit.
Why won't my ILVE burner stay lit when I release the knob?
Keep the knob pressed for about five seconds after the flame appears so the safety sensor can heat, and wait five minutes after a failed attempt. When the flame still drops, ILVE's notes point to the thermocouple or the magnet in the valve, so book a visit.
The touchscreen on my ILVE Majestic stopped working after I lit a burner. Is it broken?
Most likely not. ILVE describes ignition interference that blocks the touch control, and opening and closing the oven door resets it. If it keeps happening, book a visit, since a ferrite may need to be added.
My ILVE Majestic oven will not heat at all. Is there something I can reset?
ILVE's service notes list a safety thermostat with a reset button inside the stove, along with the cooling fan and a door microswitch. None of them is reached from the front, so book a visit rather than taking panels off.
