Miele stoves,
specifically.
Miele's US stoves come in all-gas, dual fuel and induction versions, the larger ones with a full Miele oven and its menus. Much of what owners see on the display is plain-language messages rather than numbers, and several of them are settings or safety features rather than problems.

Miele builds 2 of the 4 stove types this site covers. Which one decides how the visit is planned.

to Miele.
This page draws on Miele's operating instructions for its 30-inch dual fuel stove (HR 1924-3 G DF family) and 30-inch induction stove (HR 1622-3 I family). The US lineup also includes all-gas models and wider dual fuel stoves, so the label decides which instructions apply.
Relight by hand in an outage
Miele says that during a power failure the automatic re-ignition does not work properly, and the normal and power burners can be lit with a match. The stovetop should then be used only under watch.
A system lock for small hands
Miele's System Lock stops the oven from being switched on by accident. For a single meal it is lifted by touching the lock symbol for at least 6 seconds, and it can be turned off for good in the settings.
A shut-off for long runs
If the oven runs for an unusually long time, Miele's safety shut-off stops it and asks you to confirm with OK. It protects a kitchen where the oven was forgotten.
12:00 after a long outage
Miele keeps the time through short outages, but after more than 150 hours without power the clock resets and the date and time must be set again. It is a normal result of a long outage, not a sign of damage.
Parts
A lost or dead wireless probe can be bought from a Miele dealer or from Miele directly. For every other part we read the model and serial number first, since no Miele source gave shipping times.
Repair or replace
System Lock, Demo mode, the long-run shut-off and a clock reset need a setting, not a part. On a Miele stove, a lock, igniter or board repair is usually the sensible path.
