PF means power has been interrupted to the appliance, from an outage, a tripped breaker or a brief flicker. The stove stops what it was doing and waits for you.

What to do when PF shows on the stoveKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something the stove was switched into, often by accident, rather than something that broke: a control lock pressed while wiping the panel, a Sabbath setting, a showroom demo mode that lights the display and heats nothing, a reminder that a spot on the stovetop is still hot. No part is worn out, and the stove's own keys put it right.

Press CLEAR/OFF and reset the clock if needed.
Start the cooking function again and check that it heats.
If PF keeps appearing without an outage, have the breaker and cord checked, and book a visit if the supply is sound.

The stove is working again and no part was needed. If the same letters come back while a burner or the oven is on, or the stove switches itself off again in the middle of dinner, book it as a new problem.

A stove with gas burners on top, whether its oven below runs on gas too or on electricity, fed by one gas line behind it and plugged into a wall outlet for the spark.
Electric stove
A stove that runs entirely on electricity through a heavy cord and a large outlet behind it, with coil burners that lift out or a smooth glass stovetop with elements under it.
