What F9
actually means.

LG groups several codes around oven heating: F9 means the upper oven is not heating properly, F6 is an upper oven heating error and F19 is an oven heating error. On a gas LG that usually means the igniter or valve; on an electric one, an element or its relay.

What to do when F9 shows on the stove

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from LG's own guidance for F9 on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press CLEAR/OFF and start the bake again.

02

Take out any foil on the oven floor and make sure the racks and door are closed normally.

03

If the code comes back, switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on.

04

Book a visit if the oven still will not heat, and if you smell gas, leave and call the gas utility from outside.

It usually turns into stove oven heating repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F9 is not LG's sensor code. The sensor has its own numbers, F1 and F2; F9 says the heat itself did not come.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. For F9, the source is this: LG's Help Library code list (Wayback copy of 23 June 2025); the list names no models, so the rating label decides whether your stove can show it.

Questions
about F9.

Can I clear F9 myself?
Press CLEAR/OFF and start the bake again. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My LG gas oven clicks but shows F9 and stays cold. Why?
The control sees no temperature rise, often because the oven igniter is too weak to open the gas valve. That needs a visit; do not try to light the oven by hand.
Does F19 on my LG mean the element burned out?
It can, but a relay on the board or a loose wire can cause the same code. The part is confirmed with a meter before anything is ordered.
Can I bake with F6 on my LG if I set a higher temperature?
No. The oven is not heating the way it should, so turning it up does not fix it. Reset once, and book a visit if F6 stays.

Still showing F9?

Book with the code written exactly as the stove shows it, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or hot wiring — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
