What HOT
actually means.
Steam clean on a Profile needs a cool oven. If you start it while the oven is still warm from cooking, the display flashes HOT and the cycle waits.

What to do when HOT shows on the stoveKind of codeMode, not a failure
Something the stove was switched into, often by accident, rather than something that broke: a control lock pressed while wiping the panel, a Sabbath setting, a showroom demo mode that lights the display and heats nothing, a reminder that a spot on the stovetop is still hot. No part is worn out, and the stove's own keys put it right.
Usually leads toNo repair
Let the oven cool to room temperature.
Shows up asStove Display Blank or Flashing
The clock and display on the stove have gone dark, or they flash the time, a word or a string of characters and ignore the keys you press.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for HOT on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Let the oven cool to room temperature.
Reset the controls and start steam clean again.
If HOT flashes on an oven that has been cold for hours, book a visit to check the temperature reading.
Cleared?
The stove is working again and no part was needed. If the same letters come back while a burner or the oven is on, or the stove switches itself off again in the middle of dinner, book it as a new problem.
What not to do
HOT is not an overheat warning. It only means steam clean cannot run yet because the oven has not cooled.
What you may
notice with it.
The stove problems HOT tends to arrive with. Answer these at the stove before anyone is booked.
