What F4
actually means.
On LG double-oven stoves, F4 and F5 are the lower oven's thermistor codes. The upper oven may carry on working while the lower one refuses to heat.

What to do when F4 shows on the stoveKind of codeTemperature sensor
The thin probe on the back wall of the oven sent the stove a reading it would not trust, or one that kept climbing past the setting. A loose plug behind the stove or a probe knocked against the racks is ruled out before the sensor or the board is replaced. If the oven keeps getting hotter with the controls turned off, switch the stove off at its breaker first.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from LG's own guidance for F4 on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Clear the code with CLEAR/OFF and restart the bottom oven.
A repeat of the code calls for 30 seconds with the breaker off.
Use the upper oven meanwhile, and book a visit if F4 or F5 keeps coming back.

What not to do
F4 says nothing about the top oven on an LG double-oven stove. Because LG numbers its sensor codes per cavity, only the bottom sensor needs testing.
