Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 415-7620

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from LG's own guidance for HS on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep hands, towels and children away from the stovetop until HS goes out.

02

Wait for the surface to cool; HS turns off on its own.

03

If HS stays lit on a top that is cool to the touch, switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on, then book a visit if it stays.

Cleared?

The stove is working again and no part was needed. If the same letters come back while a burner or the oven is on, or the stove switches itself off again in the middle of dinner, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

HS is not a warning that something is broken. It becomes a service matter only if it stays on over a cold stovetop.

What you may
notice with it.

The stove problems HS tends to arrive with. Answer these at the stove before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the stove was switched into, often by accident, rather than something that broke: a control lock pressed while wiping the panel, a Sabbath setting, a showroom demo mode that lights the display and heats nothing, a reminder that a spot on the stovetop is still hot. No part is worn out, and the stove's own keys put it right.

In LG's own words

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. For HS, the source is this: LG's Help Library code list (Wayback copy of 23 June 2025); the list names no models, so the rating label decides whether your stove can show it.

Questions
about HS.

Can I clear HS myself?
Keep hands, towels and children away from the stovetop until HS goes out.
Why is HS still lit long after I finished cooking on my LG?
Until the surface cools below its safe-to-touch point, which can take a while after high heat. It is normal.
HS is lit on my LG but the glass is cold. What does that mean?
The sensor or control may be stuck. Reset at the breaker, and book a visit if HS stays.
Is HS the same as H5 on my LG?
Yes. LG's list shows the code both ways; it is the hot surface warning.

Back to your everyday

Still showing HS?

Book with the code written exactly as the stove shows it, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or hot wiring — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
