What F40
actually means.
Control Error F40 on a BlueStar stove means an oven temperature sensor issue. Without a good reading, the oven cannot hold the heat you set.

What to do when F40 shows on the stoveKind of codeTemperature sensor
The thin probe on the back wall of the oven sent the stove a reading it would not trust, or one that kept climbing past the setting. A loose plug behind the stove or a probe knocked against the racks is ruled out before the sensor or the board is replaced. If the oven keeps getting hotter with the controls turned off, switch the stove off at its breaker first.

Recipes take much longer or much less time than they should, cakes burn on the outside and stay raw inside, or an oven thermometer disagrees with the display by more than a little.
