AGA Elise or Mercury induction stove
showing H

When you switch off an induction zone on an Elise or Mercury, H stays in that zone's display as long as the surface is above about 140°F.

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 415-7620

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from AGA's own guidance for H on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep fingers, cloths and anything that can melt away from that zone while H is lit.

02

Warn children in the kitchen that the glass is hot even though the zone is off.

03

No repair is needed; wait for H to clear by itself.

Cleared?

The stove is working again and no part was needed. If the same letters come back while a burner or the oven is on, or the stove switches itself off again in the middle of dinner, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

H is a reminder, not a sign of trouble. It is there because the glass stays hot for a while after cooking.

What you may
notice with it.

The stove problems H tends to arrive with. Answer these at the stove before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the stove was switched into, often by accident, rather than something that broke: a control lock pressed while wiping the panel, a Sabbath setting, a showroom demo mode that lights the display and heats nothing, a reminder that a spot on the stovetop is still hot. No part is worn out, and the stove's own keys put it right.

In AGA's own words

heat indicator symbol [ H ], will appear in the display.

Questions
about H.

Can I clear H myself?
Keep fingers, cloths and anything that can melt away from that zone while H is lit.
How long does H stay on my AGA induction top?
Until that zone cools below about 140°F. A zone that held a heavy pot for a long time can take a while to get there.
Why does my AGA show H if induction heats the pan and not the glass?
The hot pan warms the glass beneath it, so the surface stays hot after cooking. H warns you of that leftover heat.
My AGA's H light never goes out. Is that a problem?
If H stays long after the top has fully cooled, the reading may be off. Note which zone it is on and book a visit.

Still showing H?

Book with the code written exactly as the stove shows it, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or hot wiring — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
