What F3
actually means.
The oven sensor is the thin probe on the back wall of the oven that tells the control how hot it is inside. With F3 the control is getting a reading it cannot use, and GE says the sensor normally needs replacing.

What to do when F3 shows on the stoveKind of codeTemperature sensor
The thin probe on the back wall of the oven sent the stove a reading it would not trust, or one that kept climbing past the setting. A loose plug behind the stove or a probe knocked against the racks is ruled out before the sensor or the board is replaced. If the oven keeps getting hotter with the controls turned off, switch the stove off at its breaker first.

The oven part of a stove that stays cold, heats slowly or bakes too hot or too cool, fixed at the bake and broil elements, the oven igniter, the gas valve or the temperature sensor.

Recipes take much longer or much less time than they should, cakes burn on the outside and stay raw inside, or an oven thermometer disagrees with the display by more than a little.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from GE's own guidance for F3 on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Turn the oven off and let it cool.
Reset the breaker for a minute or two to see whether F3 clears.
If it returns, book a visit; the sensor and its plug connection behind the oven wall are what get tested.

It usually turns into stove oven heating repair. Book with the code and the model number.
What not to do
F3 does not mean the bake element or gas burner has failed. The heat source may be fine; it is the temperature reading that the control has stopped believing.
What you may
notice with it.
The stove problems F3 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the stove before anyone is booked.
