La Cornue induction zone
showing H

Once a zone, or the whole plate, is switched off, an H stays on every zone that is still hot.

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 415-7620

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from La Cornue's own guidance for H on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep hands, towels and anything that can melt off the zone until H clears.

02

Remind children that the glass stays hot after the stove is off.

03

No repair is needed; H goes out by itself as the zone cools.

Cleared?

The stove is working again and no part was needed. If the same letters come back while a burner or the oven is on, or the stove switches itself off again in the middle of dinner, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

H does not report a problem. It is there so nobody touches a hot zone that looks switched off.

What you may
notice with it.

The stove problems H tends to arrive with. Answer these at the stove before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the stove was switched into, often by accident, rather than something that broke: a control lock pressed while wiping the panel, a Sabbath setting, a showroom demo mode that lights the display and heats nothing, a reminder that a spot on the stovetop is still hot. No part is worn out, and the stove's own keys put it right.

In La Cornue's own words

The symbol [ H ] disappears when the heating zones can be touched without danger.

Questions
about H.

Can I clear H myself?
Keep hands, towels and anything that can melt off the zone until H clears.
How hot is my La Cornue zone while H is showing?
On the CornuFé, H means the zone is above about 140°F, hot enough to burn. Give it time to clear before you clean the glass.
Can I set a plastic container on a La Cornue zone showing H?
La Cornue says not to place heat-sensitive objects on zones while the residual heat indicators are lit. Wait until H clears.
My La Cornue H stays on long after cooking. Should I worry?
Heavy cast iron can keep the glass warm for a while. If H stays long after the top is plainly cool, book a visit so the zone's sensing can be checked.

Back to your everyday

Still showing H?

Book with the code written exactly as the stove shows it, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or hot wiring — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
