Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hestan's own guidance for ER05 on its stoves. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the burner off and let it cool; if you smell gas, leave the knobs off, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.

02

Clean the burner ports and the igniter, and make sure the burner cap sits flat.

03

Try again; if ER05 returns, book a visit for the igniter.

Questions
about ER05.

Can I clear ER05 myself?
Turn the burner off and let it cool; if you smell gas, leave the knobs off, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why did my Hestan Smart Burner give up and show ER05?
It tried several times to light and could not, so it stopped the cycle to avoid releasing gas. Clogged ports or a worn igniter are the usual reasons.
How do I clean the burner ports on my Hestan stove?
With the burner cool, lift off the cap and clear the ports with a stiff brush or a straightened paper clip. Keep water out of the igniter and let everything dry before lighting.
Should I worry about gas when ER05 shows on my Hestan stove?
The stove stops the cycle after the failed attempts. If you smell gas, do not try again; leave and call the gas utility from outside.

Still showing ER05?

Book with the code written exactly as the stove shows it, the full model number, and whether you notice any smell of gas or hot wiring — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
