What DuPage County does
to a stove.

Where stoves sit in DuPage County: older housing stock, specified kitchens, family houses.

All of Chicago

Older housing stock

In an older house the stove may be the last gas appliance left on a line that once fed a furnace or water heater long since replaced, and a weak flame on every burner at once is traced back along that line before the stove is blamed.

Specified kitchens

A slide-in stove between custom cabinets overlaps the counter at its edges, so it is drawn out with care and pushed back with the gaps kept tight, and a stove that rocks or sits proud of the counter afterward is leveled on its feet.

Family houses

Families moving into a house with the previous owner's stove often want it checked before the first week of meals: the connection, the anti-tip bracket, each burner and a full bake, so they know what they bought.
