Greenwich Village began as a hamlet separate from New York City after the English took New Netherland in 1664. ## What Greenwich Village does to a stove. By 1850 the city had grown all the way around the Village, and the two were no longer thought of as separate places. The Village still keeps many houses from its building boom of 1830 to 1837. The 2012 Village Halloween Parade was canceled because Hurricane Sandy had left Greenwich Village in blackout. [All of New York Metro](https://stoverepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Older housing stock An electric stove in an older house may plug into a receptacle that has seen several stoves come and go, and a cord end that runs warm or shows scorch marks at its prongs is a reason to stop cooking until the receptacle has been checked. ### Small kitchens In a tight kitchen the gap beside the stove collects crumbs, grease and the odd dropped spoon, so when the stove must be pulled for a repair it is pulled once, gets cleaned behind and goes back square to the counter. ### Specified kitchens Classic European stoves with cast-iron hotplates or a French top are kept for decades in these kitchens, and their owners want them repaired rather than replaced, which means parts ordered from the maker by the stove's serial number. ## A visit in Greenwich Village.
