The Battery Park City Authority plans and runs the neighborhood's 92-acre site as a mix of homes, offices, shops and parks. ## What Battery Park City does to a stove. Eleven buildings went up in Battery Park City in the 2000s and three more in the 2010s. The Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency work here includes rebuilding the North Cove and the south Battery Park esplanade and adding flood barriers around the South Cove and Rockefeller Park. After the World Trade Center attacks, more than half of Battery Park City's residents moved away for good, and reduced rents and government subsidies helped fill its apartments again. [All of New York Metro](https://stoverepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Tower living Many tower apartments are rented, and the stove in them belongs to the unit's owner rather than the tenant, so a repair is often booked by the owner or a management company while the tenant simply lets the technician in. ### Newer developments Planned communities hold many investor-owned rentals, and the stove in each sees a new household every year or two, so broken knobs, cracked glass and oven doors pulled out of line are common reports from property managers. ### On the water When a coastal storm pushes seawater into a house, a stove that stood in it is not switched back on until it has been checked, because salt left in the wiring, the controls or the gas valve can short or corrode long after the floor has dried. ## A visit in Battery Park City.
