The pan, a lock left on and the switch behind the knob are checked before the element under the glass, its limiter or an induction board is changed. Turn off the oven if it is running and take the pan off the hot area. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why did my Whirlpool stovetop shut off and show C81 while I was canning? Long boils at high heat with a big pot can overheat the glass under it. Let it cool for five minutes and lower the setting a notch once the water is boiling. ### Is C82 on my Whirlpool different from C81?
