F4 is the second of GE's two sensor codes. On a Profile it means the probe that measures oven heat is out of range or open, and GE says the fix is usually a new sensor. GE Profile stove display What to do when F4 shows on the stove ### Kind of code Temperature sensor The thin probe on the back wall of the oven sent the stove a reading it would not trust, or one that kept climbing past the setting. A loose plug behind the stove or a probe knocked against the racks is ruled out before the sensor or the board is replaced. Turn the oven off, press Cancel/Off and let it cool for an hour, as the Profile manual advises for any F code. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can I keep using the induction burners on my Profile with F4 showing? Usually yes. F4 is an oven sensor code, and GE allows short burner use with the breaker on. ### Why did F4 show on my Profile during steam clean? The sensor is read in every oven mode, including cleaning. A sensor that has started to fail can show up during any cycle. ### Does F4 on a Profile mean the oven will overheat? The control stops heating when it cannot trust the sensor, which is why the code appears.
